DEEP DIAPHRAGMATIC BREATHING
Although the lymphatic system has no pump like the heart in the circulatory system, the movement from the act of breathing is a lymphatic pump in itself and can help direct lymph. Proper deep breathing is one of the most important facilitators of lymphatic function.
When you breathe deeply, you create deeper contractions of your diaphragm. This acts as an external pressure on the largest lymph vessel – your thoracic duct – which brings lymphatic fluid from the lower half of your body and limbs up toward your heart. It’s as simple as expanding your belly when you inhale and relaxing your belly when you exhale.
